At a called meeting Tuesday, Interim City Manager John Bowling resigned effective immediately, saying he feared for his safety because a current city employee made a death threat on his life “last week”.
Hometown Radio has learned there was no threat.
A month ago, when a member of city hall staff mentioned to the vehicle maintenance crew that work was stressful since Bowling became manager, long-time mechanic Rick Henry joked that the stress would go away if someone were to get rid of Bowling.
